What to Wear to Work While Pregnant Without Losing Your Style

Pregnancy is already a fairly significant change to your body. Your wardrobe does not need to become a personality change too.

The easiest way to dress for work while pregnant is to stop thinking in terms of "maternity outfits" and start thinking about clothes that work with your body now.

A few things help.

  1. Keep your existing style vocabulary. If you wore trousers and shirts before pregnancy, start there. If you lived in dresses, keep wearing dresses. If your wardrobe was mostly monochrome, there is no reason to suddenly become a pastel person.
  2. Prioritise movement. Work clothes need to survive more than looking good at 9:30am. You will sit, stand, commute, eat lunch, attend meetings and probably spend some part of the day wondering why you agreed to that meeting.
  3. Choose fabrics that fit loose and silhouettes that don't require constant fixing. Layer smartly. Open shirts, lightweight jackets and cardigans can extend clothes through changing proportions without making your wardrobe look like a maternity catalogue.
  4. Don't ignore your base layers. A comfortable bra or camisole can completely change how the rest of an outfit feels. If the foundation is uncomfortable, no amount of good tailoring will save the day. Our Bestseller bras can be your go-to wardrobe essential: explore here
  5. Don't buy everything at once. Your body is going to keep changing. Buy for the phase you're actually in, and prioritise pieces you can continue wearing afterwards.

Because the goal isn't to build a nine-month work wardrobe. It's to keep getting dressed for your actual life.
